#TelcommsForAll: Today is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

Come to think of it, just some years ago, we didn’t have the internet, not to talk of mobile phones in Nigeria but now I can’t imagine a world without my phone or the internet. The world is at our finger tips and with just a click or swipe on your phone, you can pull out the most current information around the world in a few seconds.
Telecommunication has changed our lives, has helped to unite families and improve relationship bonds.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness the possibilities the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies can bring to societies and economies, as well as ways to bridge the digital divide. Also to commemorate the founding of the international Telecommunication Union on May 17, 1865 (history Lessons, ehen?).

From the days we used to use Nokia 3310, queue up in cyber cafes to send e-mails to the evolution of smart phones, how has the growth of telecommunications affected your life and your family? What are your favourite social media platforms; facebook, twitter, linkedin, Instagram?
