This T-shirt has popped-up on my social media feeds several
times over the past few days. It reads “Dads don’t babysit. (It’s called “Parenting”).
It was posted on Reddit and Facebook by the Dad Network.
Isn’t it considerate to give mom a break? Shouldn’t
the man be more active in their family life? Is it proper to assume the mum is
the primary parent? These are some of the reactions the message on the T-shirt has generated on the role of a father in raising his children.
Some of the Facebook
and Reddit comments are so hilarious but yet true.
Other users complained that there are other barriers to
equating the role of fathers to mothers in the society too such as baby
changing facilities in public places usually stationed in the ladies restroom.
What’s your take?

A user posted “My husband will occasionally say that
“you owe me for babysitting last Saturday”……You are their father, you were
parenting!

ReplyDeleteFatherhood is fulfilling your own side of the deal. you both own the child.
ReplyDeleteIt's not totally true, some fathers do.
ReplyDeleteIt's as if women are naturally blessed with the gift of doing it without feeling it. Men do it as well but very difficult and stressful. Abeg they should continue with it and d kitchen wahala while we concentrate more on hustling. Lolzzzzz
